Welcome to After the Fire Nineteen 12: Hope & Healing

Abuse is not just a personal issue—it’s a public health crisis.

Abuse has reached epidemic levels, affecting individuals, families, and entire communities. Its consequences extend far beyond the immediate victim, creating ripple effects that impact every layer of society. Abuse contributes to poor mental and physical health outcomes, undermines economic stability, strains social systems, and perpetuates intergenerational cycles of trauma. Recognizing abuse as a significant public issue is essential for mobilizing resources, increasing awareness, and developing effective systems of prevention, intervention, and support. By addressing abuse as a societal concern rather than a private matter, communities can foster healing, strengthen resilience, and work toward lasting change.

God says in Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Paul confirms in 2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a Spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind.

Ephesians 6:12
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of the dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

The enemy thrives on our complacency and uses fear to silence us.
That fear can make us feel like we’re walking on eggshells, unsure of our voice and our worth. Through deceit and manipulation, the enemy seeks to dominate our thoughts—fostering confusion and planting seeds of self-doubt. Sometimes, this shows up as harsh inner criticism, convincing us that we don’t deserve a life filled with peace, purpose, or joy.

What’s even more painful is that the enemy often works through those closest to us, making his tactics feel deeply personal. But recognizing these strategies is the first step toward reclaiming our God-given worth and authority.

You are not powerless. You are not alone. And you are absolutely worthy of a life rooted in truth, healing, and hope.

Paul further provides instructions for Christians living in Ephesians. 5:11-13 have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible - and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.
