Abuse is not just a personal issue—it’s a public health crisis.
Abuse has reached epidemic levels, affecting individuals, families, and entire communities. Its impact extends far beyond the immediate survivor, creating ripple effects that influence mental and physical health, economic stability, relationships, and community well-being. Abuse contributes to poor health outcomes, strains social systems, and perpetuates intergenerational cycles of trauma that can persist for generations.
Recognizing abuse as a significant public health and social issue is essential for increasing awareness, mobilizing resources, and developing effective systems of prevention, intervention, and support. When communities address abuse as a societal concern rather than a private matter, opportunities for healing, resilience, and lasting change become possible.
Through education, trauma-informed approaches, and faith-based support, we can empower survivors, strengthen communities, and create pathways toward healing, hope, and restoration.
Welcome to After the Fire Nineteen 12
A faith-based resource for healing from domestic violence and coercive control.
My name is Rae Young, and I am dedicated to helping survivors of trauma and abuse move from surviving to thriving. Through a unique blend of trauma-informed care, public health education, evidence-based practices, and Christian faith, I provide guidance that supports healing of the mind, body, and spirit.
My passion is rooted in both professional training and personal experience, allowing me to connect with survivors with authenticity, compassion, and understanding. As a graduate student in Public Health, I am particularly focused on social determinants of health and how factors such as poverty, housing instability, community environments, adverse childhood experiences, access to healthcare, education, and social support influence trauma, healing, and long-term well-being. I am committed to educating individuals and communities about the profound impact of trauma while equipping survivors with practical tools for healing, resilience, and growth.
I believe that healing is most effective when we recognize the whole person and acknowledge the complex social, emotional, physical, and spiritual factors that shape health and recovery. By bridging public health principles, trauma-informed approaches, and faith-based support, I strive to empower survivors with knowledge, hope, and resources that foster lasting transformation.
Whether you are seeking support for your own journey, resources to better understand trauma, or education to help others, this space was created for you. Here, you will find encouragement, knowledge, and hope in a safe and supportive environment where healing and growth are possible.

Every step toward healing and every decision to embrace God's truth can transform your life and positively impact those around you. As we grow in faith, resilience, and hope, we become living testimonies of God's restorative power and beacons of light for others who are seeking healing, purpose, and renewal.
I invite you to join me on this extraordinary journey of faith and healing—a journey marked by grace, growth, and divine purpose. Together, we can walk forward with confidence, knowing that through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we can overcome life's challenges, discover renewed strength, and embrace the abundant life God has lovingly prepared for us.
God says in Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
Paul confirms in 2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a Spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind.
Ephesians 6:12
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of the dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
The enemy thrives on complacency and often uses fear as a tool to keep us silent, discouraged, and disconnected from our God-given purpose. Fear can leave us feeling as though we are constantly walking on eggshells—questioning our voice, doubting our worth, and hesitating to step into the freedom God intends for us.
Through deception and manipulation, the enemy seeks to influence our thoughts, creating confusion and planting seeds of self-doubt. These lies can manifest as relentless self-criticism, shame, and feelings of unworthiness, leading us to believe we are undeserving of the peace, joy, healing, and purpose that God desires for our lives.
What can be especially painful is that these attacks often come through the words and actions of those closest to us, making the wounds feel deeply personal. Yet recognizing these tactics is a powerful first step toward breaking free from their influence and reclaiming the identity, worth, and authority God has given us.
Remember, you are not powerless, and you are never alone. You are deeply loved, purposefully created, and worthy of a life rooted in truth, healing, and hope. As you embrace God's promises and walk in His truth, you can overcome fear, silence the lies of the enemy, and step confidently into the abundant life He has prepared for you.
